Bayern Munich have reportedly joined Paris Saint-Germain in the race to sign Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.

The 31-year-old is said to be considering his long-term future at Stamford Bridge after the Blues only offered him a one-year extension on his existing contract, which expires in 16 months.

Speculation is rife that the Ligue 1 champions will capitalise on the uncertainty by lodging a £15 million summer bid, although manager Jose Mourinho is keen to keep the Serbian.

However, his contract situation has now alerted the German giants as coach Pep Guardiola views Ivanovic as a long-term replacement for the out-of-favour Dante, according to The Daily Star.

Earlier this week it was reported that Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane had emerged as Mourinho’s number one transfer target this summer.

Ivanovic has scored 31 goals for the west Londoners since making a £10 million move to Chelsea from Lokomotiv Moscow in 2008.

Should the Portuguese manager do everything in his power to keep Branislav at the club? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
