Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly readying a summer bid for Chelsea left-back Cesar Azpilicueta, having seen an offer rebuffed in January.

Les Parisiens have taken quite a likening to Jose Mourinho’s personnel it seems, as reports in Italy suggest that the Ligue 1 champions – who signed David Luiz for £50 million last summer – have identified Azpilicueta as their next target.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Spaniard was courted by the French giants during the winter transfer window but were laughed out of the room with an £8.5 million bid.

The 25-year-old has established himself as a pillar in the Blues’ defence over the past three seasons, starting 71 Premier League games in total and, if true, their valuation of Cesar is, well, marginally comical.

Of course, Laurent Blanc’s side travel to Stamford Bridge tonight for a second-leg last-16 Champions League clash, and here’s to hoping that our plucky left-back illustrates why that reported bid is such a joke.
