Jose Mourinho gave an injury update during a press conference ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light today.

The Portuguese manager had some good news and some bad news as he revealed that Samuel Eto’o is back in training – sooner than expected – and is in contention to start in the game against Gus Poyet’s side on Wednesday night. The Cameroon forward picked up an injury against FC Basel last week and Mourinho said he’ll make a decision over him after this afternoon’s training session.

However, Brazilian duo Oscar and David Luiz have been ruled out of the Sunderland game and will be reassessed afterwards to see if they can play a part in Chelsea’s following fixture against Stoke City on Saturday.

The only other absentee from the squad is long-term injury casualty Marco van Ginkel, who turned 21 on Sunday.
