At a press conference today Jose Mourinho was asked about transfer targets and revealed that he has a plan ‘B’ and ‘C’ should he fail to land his top target.

So far Manchester United have dug their heels in over Wayne Rooney, have rejected two bids from Chelsea so far and maintain that he’s not for sale.

But the player is distant from the club and this was evident during his cameo against Swansea as he didn’t even celebrate with the rest of the team after the goals. It did show that he will remain professional and play when called upon, but it won’t stop United facing the same situation in January and the summer, when the player’s value reduces significantly.

Failing that, Mourinho will go in for either his 2nd or 3rd option although it isn’t clear who they may be.

Immediately after the manager revealed that he has alternatives in mind fans took to social media sites to speculate over the targets. Some were unrealistic, like Robert Lewandowski, who will be going to Bayern Munich when his contract expires at the end of the season as confirmed by his manager Jurgen Klopp. It would also seem that Samuel Eto’o is no longer an option as he’s set to stay at Anzhi.

Jackson Martinez has been linked with Chelsea recently and could be a possibility. The 26-year-old was prolific last season scoring 34 goals in 43 games, but he is a Porto player and you know what they’re like when it comes to the valuation of their players.

Burak Yilmaz is a name that has popped up every now and then in relation to a potential move to Stamford Bridge this summer. The 28-year-old is currently playing with former blue Didier Drogba over at Galatasaray and he netted 32 times for the Turkish club last season.

Martinez and Yilmaz could be the most likely backups at the moment, but I’d like to throw Zlatan Ibrahimovich in the hat as a long shot.

wayne is still the first choice, all we need is stick to it and some action should be made by rooney if he really nt to leave mu.sppose we can sigh him up this summer,i think we can go futher in the champion league, being quite competitive.we may have the chance of beating barcelona and rm and bayern
