146-Wayne-Rooney-banished-to-Manchester-United-reserves-by

Wayne Rooney was made to train with the Manchester United reserves today as he pushed for a move to Chelsea.

The likes of the Daily Star and Mail were told by the Premier League club that Rooney trained away from the senior side at his own request, but Goal.com describe it as a banishment despite the message that United’s own PR put out.

The England forward has said nothing throughout the entire process, probably at the request of his advisers, but he is expected to hand in a transfer request…eventually. He probably won’t do that before Rio Ferdinand’s testimonial tomorrow out of respect for his team-mate.

Rooney isn’t likely to feature in that match against Sevilla so won’t have to face the wrath of the United supporters and although this one is set to drag on a while longer, perhaps it won’t be long before that transfer request goes through.

One thing that doesn’t help Chelsea’s cause is the fact that David Moyes has failed to land a top target since his arrival at Old Trafford as Thiago Alcantara signed for Bayern Munich whilst Cesc Fabregas has no desire to leave Barcelona for Manchester. No doubt they’ll end up settling for Everton’s Marouane Fellaini.

The 27-year-old is lacking in match fitness as he’s been ‘injured’ for most of the pre-season and the next time we’ll see him on the field could be on Wednesday when England host Scotland during next week’s round of international friendlies which, as an aside, makes our extra pre-season game against Roma in Washington seem even more mental as the players will fly back on Sunday and many will be taking part in the internationals mere days before the beginning of the Premier League season.

Anyway, hopefully this Rooney saga won’t be going on too much longer either way.
