Luiz-RooneyChelsea star Eden Hazard is looking forward to his second season with the Blues and believes that Wayne Rooney would be a ‘brilliant’ addition should he join the West London club.

Since before the end of the last season there has been a lot of speculation over the future of Rooney as the England forward is reportedly disillusioned with life at Old Trafford and David Moyes has made it clear that he’s second to Robin van Persie in his plans.

Jose Mourinho admitted that he is a fan of Rooney and today remarked on the fact that the 27-year-old is second choice today but would not be drawn into saying too much about another club’s player. Hazard has said that he’s loved to see Rooney at Stamford Bridge and believes he has many great years ahead of him.

Hazard was quoted in the Daily Mail:

‘Rooney would be a brilliant signing. He’s a great player who has the experience and he’s still only young, at 27, but it’s not up to me.”

Rooney is a player that is getting mixed reviews from the Chelsea support as the moment as there are those that would be delighted for him to join our ranks, others are concerned about his lucrative wages and apparent physical issues (he tends to pack on the pounds when he isn’t playing). There are also fans that plain don’t like him and do not want to see him in Chelsea blue.

The striker has scored 197 goals in 400 games for the Red Devils and has scored 30+ in two of the nine seasons he’s spent at the club. He did not have the best of campaigns last time as he played a lot of games behind van Persie, but he did manage a respectable tally of 16 goals in 36 games.

Do you agree with Hazard and believe Rooney would be a brilliant signing for Chelsea or should the Blues be looking elsewhere? – Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
