The Premier League has apologised to Chelsea after prematurely publishing an article on the league’s official website about Jose Mourinho’s return to Stamford Bridge.
The headline read ‘Jose Mourinho makes Chelsea return’ and was up on the website last night until it was later removed and they claimed that it was published in error, it was post-dated for June 3rd.
An official said:
“It was a publishing error. We took it down as soon as we were notified of it, and we’ve spoken to and apologised to Chelsea.
“We have no prior knowledge of any movement or any announcement.”
It is the worst kept secret in football ever and even Florentino Perez, Real Madrid president, confirmed the switch earlier today but there is yet to be an official statement from Chelsea.
We are now at the point where Sky Sports News are attempting to document the 50-year-old’s every single move as there are reports that he arrived in London today. I don’t know when the club will make their announcements but after the Premier League dropped the ball and Perez (as well as everyone else in football) confirming what we all know, they probably won’t wait too long before they ‘break’ the news.
It’s more than likely this will be tomorrow and the first interview will be broadcast on the club’s TV station. As for a first press conference, this could come some time after as Mourinho isn’t due to start work officially until the beginning on July.
