FBL-WC2013-U20-FRA-GHAAlleged Chelsea and Real Madrid target Geoffrey Kondogbia has admitted that the Blues are a top team but won’t be deciding his future until after the Under-20 World Cup.

The 20-year-old has attracted interest following a number of impressive displays for Sevilla over the past season which caught the eyes of both Real and Manchester City before Chelsea were linked with the player.

Kondogbia is currently representing France at the U-20 World Cup in Turkey which ends on July 13th.

He said:

“I am flattered to be linked with Real Madrid.

“They are a top club, but Sevilla are fantastic for me at the moment.

“Chelsea are also a great team with a great manager, so let’s wait and see what will happen after the World Cup.”

I don’t know about you but this is probably the first time I have seen Kondogbia linked with a move to Stamford Bridge. The midfield is obviously an area that Jose Mourinho will want to strengthen as our current options are limited in that area. Mourinho is a fan of Ramires, John Obi Mikel and Frank Lampard but Michael Essien, who was in Marca’s most disappointing XI of the season, has an injury record that is concerning and he looks like a man that is afraid of getting hurt when he plays. There’s also Oriol Romeu, of course, but I don’t think the former Barcelona man has a future at the club.

Kondogbia played 31 games during his first season in La Liga with Sevilla, scoring one and assisting once. I can’t say that I know too much about the player but from what I read he’s a defensive midfielder that can play at either central defence or left fullback.
