Frank+Lampard+England+Training+Session+Press+eX8V3rkrGRrxChelsea midfielder Frank Lampard is set to captain England for the friendly against the Republic of Ireland on Wednesday at Wembley Stadium.

Despite a turbulent campaign with the West London club there has been a lot to celebrate for the 34-year-old as he picked up a Europa League winners medal, helped the Blues into third place in the Premier League and made himself the club’s all-time top goal scorer after netting his 203rd Chelsea goal in the 2-1 win at Villa Park.

Lampard will be hoping to add to his tally of 28 for his country and emulated the spirit of former Three Lions captain David Beckham during training today when his 40-yard+ effort beat Ben Foster, which was a lot like Beckham’s effort for Manchester United against Wimbledon in 1996.

I doubt he’d be able to do this during the game but Giovanni Trapattoni’s men better watch out as Lampard has been in fine form in front of goal.

Check out his effort in the video clip below…
