Bye-TorresThere has been a lot of discussion about who will be taking over at Stamford Bridge in the summer and where Chelsea will spend their money as they seek to re-establish themselves as a title challenging outfit but which players could be set for the Stamford Bridge exit doors?

1. Fernando Torres:

I don’t think Chelsea will fail to bring in a big name forward over the summer and there won’t be a place for the Spaniard other than the substitute’s bench. Torres played in 36 Premier League games this season, started 28 of those, but only managed 8 goals which is less than Gabriel Agbonlahor, Arouna Kone and Kevin Nolan. It just isn’t good enough and there probably isn’t a better time to move him on than now, if he stays for his contract he’ll cost nearly £30 million in wages.

Torres is already buttering up Jose Mourinho in the press and keeps reminding everyone he has three years on his deal. Chelsea would have to subsidise any move but will save millions even then, and will avoid a potential clash as the forward won’t take to being marginalised very well at all.

2. Marko Marin:

The German was the panic buy (when we looked Europa League-bound) and gamble of last season, it didn’t pay off. Nothing against the guy but it’s unlikely an injury-prone winger with 15 games under his belt is ever going to make an impact at the club and has no real future here.

3. Michael Essien

I’m not expecting this to be a popular choice but the fact the Ghanaian was allowed out on loan to Real Madrid all season suggests that the club hierarchy believe he’s surplus to requirements. Only Jose Mourinho could save him but he mainly used Essien as a backup right-back and there’s no real need for one of those at Chelsea.

He’s been a great servant to the club and I’m gutted every time I see what the injuries have done to him. I predict he’ll be moving on.

There’ll be a few others moving on as their contracts expire, like Yossi Benayoun, Florent Malouda and Paulo Ferreira, whilst Gael Kakuta will likely be moved on as he’s disillusioned with life at the club following so many loan spells. A few of the loan returnees could plug the gaps along with any new signings, and we need to do all we can to keep promising talent like Kevin De Bruyne, Thibaut Courtois and Romelu Lukaku happy.

But that’s just what I think and you may agree or disagree. We would like to hear your thoughts on the matter – Have your say in the comments section below.

In my opinion,Chelsea need to bring in two quality strikers, a top notch defensive midfielder, a central defender, and a top quality left back.
    We further need to dispense of the under listed five(5) players;
    1.Fernando Torres
    2.John Obi Mikel
    3.Ryan Bertrand
    4.John Terry
    5.Yossi Benayoun

Agree with Mikel. He has to leave, he is terrible

    • malcolm kemp says:

I don’t agree john terry should be left to leave Chelsea,he has the experience and quality to show and help the incoming defenders especialy the youngsters who will grow into his position,ok get another defender as JT wont play much nxt season, but his know how will help endlessly!!!

    • djsav says:

Paul i agree with u, however i would keep Ryan Bertrand, and Fernando Torres.
The others i sell including Ross Turnbull, and Hilario. Maybe i would keep OBI MIKEL as well.
Cavani or Falcou to come in along with either Isco, or Christian Ericsson, i would also buy luke shaw from Southampton maybe throw Bertrand in the deal. Not to forget bringing Wallace, Mcheran, Courtiou, KDB, Piazon, T Hazard, Cholbah, and KDB back from loan.

  2. mick says:

Agree with Mikel also. Marko Marin not as good as Hazard, Oscar or Mata and is behind Moses in pecking order so will never play. Benayoun should never have been at Chelsea in the first place.
Personally I’d keep Torres and Ba as back up to Lukaku (who will be quality) and whoever we bring in. We would then have 4 decent strikers. Add a quality holding midfielder and add a centre half to what we’ve got and I say we’ll be fine.

    • Anthony Williams says:

      £170,000-a-week for a back-up forward and £90,000-a-week for a third choice forward – unrealistic.

  3. Danny says:

I agree with the 3 you have said but as for that comment above, John Terry holds the squad together even when he isn’t on the pitch, Ryan Bertrand is more than a good enough back up left back and I’m sure you would not of said that this time last year just after he had picked up his champions league winners medal after an outstanding performance.

  4. Joseck says:

Torres, mikel, yossi,Ryan n a few other culprit shd leave in summer. We need someone who don’t think twice in front of goal mouth n also faster than BA,defence we need partner for Luiz,Terry z getting slower by the day.midfield we need overhaul

    • Anthony Williams says:

      An overhaul? No.

We’re two or three wise signings from being a title contending outfit. No overhaul needed.

  5. Callum Law says:

Think we need to keep Mikel! He is not going to get us any goals but he is they only out and out CDM and with the talent we have going forward he is needed unless we sign 2-3 more CMs! I also think Mourinho will like his physical presence in a small team! I think we need another winger to add some natural width and have Oscar sharing Lampards role

  6. obi stanley says:

Defensively I think we are ok,we will need one or two attacking midfielders.Mikel should stay,he breaks up fast play, stron physically though makes few mistakes,he is a human so we should not nail him,we need more of sharp attackers,up to two then plus Lukaku,we also need a cover for hazard

  7. umar says:

mazacar; mourinoh is gonna destroy our special talents, since the squad has started 2 play flowin football, i would suggest if chelsea is building 4 the future, not to give the manager 2-much authority n always an agreement shd be done on how , he is going to be handling those talent especially academy. caz abromovich has invested much in youth and we dont want someone who may let us down. bring back kevin, lukaku, courtis and then choloba to be backups.
finally i request the board , not to make any mistake by selling david luiz

    • djsav says:

Umar Chelsea dont want to sell David Luiz, if anything they want to the team around him, as he will be our future captain, with Chalobah being vice Captain. All this rubbish coming out of the media that Jose is not keen on on Luiz is rubbish, he has not been signed by Chelsea yeat to make such decisons. Personally David Luiz will be a Mourinho type player, and being a great manager he will know this. Just look at the team he will inhirit when comes back players such as Mata, Hazard, Oscar, Lukuku, KDB, Cortiou, Chaloba, Loftus Cheek, AKA, Connor Hunte, Mcheran, Marin, T Hazard, Moses, the Spanish RB, Wallace, Piazon, Ramires, all of Chelsea’s future going forward. There is still Cech, Terry, Cahill, Invanovich, Cole, Lampard, Obi Mikel, Essian, Torres, and Ba. All of the Chelsea team at present and future with new sigings to come in Schuurl, and either Cavani or Falcou.

  8. BlueSquare says:

Stop with the FM requests please..

If it werent for the fact that Torres got a so big salary id say sell Ba.
Recall Lukaku, and buy a new striker(Hulk maybe, since brazil and chelski seems like a good mix).
Then you got Hulk,Lukaku and Torres.
Keep Marin, but he would be the 6th choice after hazard, oscar, mata, moses and probably schrulle(as left wing).

If KDB is able to play MC id say we dont need anyone else there.. mikel, lampard, ramires and KDB is fine.
If not, buy a new mc and loan out KDB.

Only thing we need in def is a young LB(Luke shaw), use Ake as a new dc instead of buying yet another one

Keep Cech and turnbull. Loan out Courtois for another season.
If Courtois is to come back, the sell Cech, both of them is way to good for the bench, and Courtois is the future, so either let him play or loan him out.. dont sell him.

  9. lil C says:

    Sell ba,moses,mikel,benouyen,ferreira,terry

bring back lukaku,KDB,cartious, paizon and buy 2 new strikers, cavani, falcoa, hulk or lawandowski

    Cartious
    Azpilicuetta. Cahil. Luis. Wallace

    Ake. Oscar

    Hazard. Mata. KDB

    Lukaka/falcoa

Then the others are on the bench

  10. wos da yank says:

Any thought about moving mikel to central defense. He’s tall and strong enough. He’s calm and doesn’t make rash tackles anymore. His lack of forward, creative passing wouldn’t be an issue. He’s just signed a long term contract so selling him isn’t going to be easy. We could then spend money elsewhere. Also…he’d have more value to us as a player who can do multiple roles. If someone makes a bid for him I wouldn’t mind selling. But since he dif just sign a multi year contract extension…putting him up for sell seems like a bad idea…I doubt we would get much out of him he can still do a job for us.

    • Anthony Williams says:

His ability isn’t an issue where he is.

He hasn’t had a good season but he’s one of the better defensive midfielders around. He’s composed, his passing his 89% accurate, he breaks up play and values possession.

That is what a defensive midfielder does, is supposed to do and he does it. Unfortunately, the FIFA and Football Manager generation think every player needs pace, to score goals blah blah blah – these are people that probably think Xavi isn’t effective or Carrick is a crap midfielder.
