Juan+Mata+sliderChelsea player of the year Juan Mata has said that he would be thrilled to work with Jose Mourinho as he regards him as ‘one of the best’.

Mourinho has reached an agreement to mutually terminate his contract at Real Madrid at the end of the season and is free to agree terms with his next club, with the media expecting him in London early June.

Mata said:

“Jose is one of the best.

“He won everything in every country he was – in Portugal, in Italy, in Chelsea in London.

“We don’t know really what is going to happen but if he comes he is welcome because he is one of the best and Chelsea always want to be a top side.

“If he comes we are going to be happy to have him.”

I’d be very surprised if they didn’t know by now. They don’t even bother trying to avoid talking about the man and you’d be hard pressed to think of a player that hasn’t spoken so candidly about him.

Mata has enjoyed plenty of success at the West London club as he helped them to Chelsea’s first Champions League and Europa League titles as well as winning the FA Cup, but the Spaniard is hungry for more domestic success and has eyes on a Premier League title win. He believes Mourinho is the man that could help the players achieve it.

“If he comes we will try and do our best with him, or whoever, to win the title, because one challenge for me will be to win the Premier League.”

In the meantime Mata has a double header against Manchester City to concentrate on during Chelsea’s mini-tour of the US. The first of the two matches will be played tonight, well 1.30am, and is free to view on Chelsea TV if you wanted to check it out.
