ShirleyBayer Leverkusen winger Andre Schurrle revealed that he has probably played his last match for the Bundesliga club in the 1-0 over Hamburg.

The 22-year-old has been linked with Chelsea over the past 12 months and many reports suggest that a deal is imminent and he claims that certain promises were made which would likely see him depart Bayer Leverkusen this summer.

Shurrle said:

“We’ll see. Certain things were promised to me.

“I hope they will keep these promises. It also depends on Leverkusen. I think, it was my last match.”

But the German club’s sporting director Rudi Voller said:

“Let’s all stay cool. We said it is only possible, if we find a proper alternative.”

Many reports had suggested that a hold up in the deal has been caused by Kevin De Bruyne and the uncertainty over his future. Chelsea do not want to sell the young Belgian and would have been happy to loan him to Bayer but Dortmund have also registered an interest as they seek to replace Mario Gotze.

There is no word on Rafael Benitez’s successor at Stamford Bridge either and De Bruyne may want to sit down with the new manager and Michael Emenalo before deciding anything. I hope he stays but don’t mind if he’s loaned out, just don’t want to sell him before he’s even been given the chance.

Back on Schurrle, I imagine at this point he just wants everything to be sorted and his current club to stop dragging their feet when it comes to replacing him which is the actual reason to do with the delay, not specifically De Bruyne. The public admission probably has a lot to do with the frustration over the time taken and mentioning the promises are a public reminder to Bayer Leverkusen.
