BenitezChelseaTrainingInterim Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez, who won April’s Manager of the Month award, is confident that the Blues can maintain their good form this weekend and believes they can achieve a positive result at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Manchester United have nothing to play for as they’re already champions and cannot achieve a points record but they’re certainly no soft touch and have won 13 of their last 14 matches at home. However, Chelsea have some momentum behind them as they are unbeaten in their last five league games, winning four of them.

The Spaniard told Sky Sports that Chelsea are capable of beating anyone:

“As soon as you can win some games in a row you have momentum and confidence and it is easier.

“We are not doing too many things in a different way but we are more convinced that we can beat anyone.

“We are creating chances and we are controlling the games. Overall it is a good period, the team has more confidence and that is the key.”

But isn’t expecting any favours from a side already crowned champions, especially as they don’t have the same pressure on them.

“It’s always difficult.

“It is a very good team. They don’t have too much pressure, but still we will try to win in front of their fans. It will be a tough game, for sure.”

Chelsea are currently in the driving seat to finish in the Premier League’s top four and qualify for next year’s Champions League, but every game is vital and points won at Old Trafford will hold us in good stead for when we host Tottenham on Wednesday. If we win both, then we’re there.

“Every single game will be important for us.

“To get three points in every single game will be massive. We’re so close.

“We know if we can get these three points (against United) and against Tottenham, we’ll be in the top four.”

Chelsea know all about doing things the hard way as they faced some tough battles away from home during Carlo Ancelotti’s double winning season and defied the odds by winning the Champions League last season, can they do it again?

One response to “Benitez: Chelsea convinced that they can beat anyone”

  1. George okeke .C says:

RB Is very correct , on a good day Chelsea can beat any team. But they have to show tomorrow against Man U that they want to win. They should take their chances and defend as a unit. I want to see Cech, J Terry, Cahil, Evanovic, Cole , Mikel, Ramirez, Hazard, Mata, Osca and Ba. With that we can score two goals and win.
