citychelsea_2949374Everyone at Stamford Bridge is looking forward to the expected return of Jose Mourinho, says Chelsea forward Demba Ba.

The worst kept secret in football is set to be formally announced in early June, according to reports. The club’s PR department must not mind the players speaking so openly about something which is yet to be made publicly official because they’ve been banging on about it for weeks now.

Ba heaped praise on the man that is expected to become his manager:

“You see what he has won, what he has brought to his teams and to his players individually, and of course he is one of the best.

“He knows everything about Chelsea having already managed the team for three or four years. He knows everybody here and he knows the club.”

He said that everybody at the club is happy with the choice:

“Everybody is thinking about it and everybody is happy. They know that he is a person that wants to win.”

The Senegalese forward didn’t live up to expectations during his first six months at the club and has only managed six goals in his 22 appearances, but they may have had something to do with settling in as he was prolific earlier in the season for Newcastle United with 13 goals in 22 games. He’d hoping the new manager will help him emulate the sort of form he was showing before Chelsea bought him. But like Fernando Torres I wouldn’t describe Ba’s future as completely secure as the Blues will probably sign a big name forward in the summer and it’s yet to be decided where Romelu Lukaku will play his football next season.

Ba scored the opening goal during last night’s friendly against Manchester City at the Busch Stadium in St Louis, USA. Unfortunately the Blues lost the match 4-3 after taking a 3-0 lead and you can see highlights of that game here.
