D-De-RossiChelsea have already begun plans for their summer spending ahead of the formal announcement that will confirm that Jose Mourinho will lead the Blues next season.

Reports today claim that Mourinho is a big fan of Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi, who may be allowed to leave the club he’s been at for 12 years following a troubled season in the Italian capital.

The Express say that Roma president James Palotta and general manager Franco Baldini were in London yesterday to discuss the potential sale of the Italian international to Chelsea for around £10 million.

Real Madrid are also linked with the 29-year-old but may concern themselves with other major targets such as Gareth Bale and Luis Suarez. Jose will be keen to fend them off in any case as he plans to add De Rossi to a new look Chelsea midfield.

The story also goes on to suggest that his arrival could have an impact on David Luiz, who Mourinho isn’t keen on as reports suggest and both Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid may be tempted to approach the West London club for the Brazilian. It is a rumour that keeps popping up and it will be interesting to see what changes Mourinho does end up making ahead of next season.

As for De Rossi, his age may put a lot of fans off and his wages are a reported €10 million-a-year, but if Chelsea could get him at the right price then he could prove a wise signing.

There’s plenty of young talent in the squad but we learned over the season that we did not have enough depth and we lacked genuine leadership for much of the campaign, especially in the midfield department and De Rossi has been described as the complete midfielder player.
