André Schürrle’s anticipated move to Stamford Bridge could be confirmed within the next few days after a lengthy negotiation process, according to the player’s agent.

Chelsea having been keeping tabs on the German international for some time now and first attempted to sign him during the summer but it could be third time lucky as it looks as though this one is going to go through after having two bids rejected previously.

Ingo Haspel, Schürrle’s agent told the Independent:

“I am waiting for information from either Leverkusen or Chelsea, but there could be some positive news by the end of this weekend.

“It is an indication of how much Chelsea want the player that they are continuing to negotiate.”

That last sentence suggests that there have been a few complications in the process and it has been rumoured that it’s over the future of Kevin De Bruyne as Bayer Leverkusen would prefer the Beglian join them on loan next season that their Bundesliga rivals Dortmund or Schalke.

It could be that Bayer Leverkusen would prefer to wait until their league position is secure before they announce losing one of their star players and could confirm their place in the league’s top four if they beat Werder Bremen on Saturday and SC Freiburg fail to win at the Allianz Arena. Leverkusen are currently third in the table with 53 points ahead of Schalke (46) and Freiburg (45) with four games remaining.

Schürrle has scored 14 goals and made 8 assists this season mainly playing on the left, so he’s had a pretty good season and has some potential. However, I have not been convinced by him when I have seen him play and believe him to be limited compared to his peers, like Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus but we will have to have faith in our scouts on this one and I hope he comes good if/when this deal finally goes through.
