Chelsea defender Gary Cahill could take part in the weekend’s game following his six-week absence following knee surgery after an awkward fall in the 2-0 win against West Ham in March.
Rafael Benitez has no new injury concerns but has Demba Ba available again as the Senegalese forward and it is likely the forward will start ahead of Fernando Torres, who has started both of our previous matches.
Swansea’s manager doesn’t have any new injury issues either. Neil Taylor may take a place on the bench as he continues his comeback from an eight-month absence. Wayne Routledge may be recalled to the side.
The Team I would pick:
P. Cech
C. Azpilicueta – D. Luiz – J. Terry (c) – A. Cole
Ramires – J. Mikel
Oscar – J. Mata – E. Hazard
D. Ba
Provisional Squads:
Chelsea: Cech, Turnbull, Hilario, Ivanovic, Cole, Bertrand, Luiz, Terry, Cahill, Azpilicueta, Ramires, Oscar, Mata, Mikel, Moses, Lampard, Hazard, Torres, Benayoun, Marin, Ake, Ferreira.
Swansea: Vorm, Bartley, Taylor, Flores, Tate, Williams, Britton, Michu, Hernandez, Dyer, Cornell, Lamah, Routledge, Monk, Shechter, Moore, De Guzman, Tiendalli, Rangel, Ki, Tremmel, Agustien, Davies.
I would go for your selection but I think Rafa the Rotund Rotator will swap Terry for Cahill and Cole for Bertrand; because they’re too tired, he’ll say. Rotation necessary for me to push for my goal of winning a trophy (the UEFA cup) to enhance my CV, he won’t say, but we all think. Qualification for the Champs Lg is Chelsea’s priority but not Rafa the Rotund Rotator’s me thinks. Terry is fit, as good as ever and we need his leadership on the pitch. I just hope R the R R see’s this also.
