Chelsea interim manager Rafael Benitez expects Brazilian midfielder Ramires to make a swift recovery from the injury that forced him off during the 2-0 win against Swansea today.

The 26-year-old went down twice in the first half and had to be substituted for Frank Lampard after 24 minutes, but Benitez says that Ramires will be fine for Thursday’s Europa League semi-final second league match versus FC Basel.

Benitez said:

“I think he will be fine. It was just a kick on his leg so he will be fine for Thursday.”

He also believes that there will be no lasting effects of the slight knocks David Luiz and Demba Ba appeared to pick up during the game.

“I think they will be fine. They didn’t say anything to me.”

This is good news as fans will have been concerned about the player, especially as we need strength in numbers during a time in which every game is carrying the importance of a cup final as Chelsea chase a top four place as well as the Europa League.
