The Porto star is expected to leave the Estádio do Dragão at the end of the season and the Express claim that Moutinho is valued at around £20 million by his current club.
Spurs have been close to signing the former Sporting Lisbon man in the last two transfer windows but I hope that the Blues join the fight for his signature as he is exactly the sort of midfield player that we should be looking at, not the likes of Marouane Fellaini, who can’t pass to save his life and does nothing but foul when played in the middle of the park.
Moutinho is a versatile player as he can play in central, attacking or defensive midfield whilst he’s able to fill in on either flank if necessary. The 26-year-old does not really score many goals and has a modest amount of assists, but he has a great range of passing and could be the perfect man to supply the likes of Eden Hazard and Juan Mata as well as do his bit defensively.
Personally speaking, he’s one of my favourite midfielders in Europe at the moment along with Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fernandinho and ?lkay Gündo?an of Borussia Dortmund, I believe any one of those lads would compliment our midfield. But there are plenty of other affordable midfielders out there that Chelsea should take a look at, like Kevin Strootman or Étienne Capoue.
