The Daily Star report that the ‘Special One’ has agreed to replace the ‘Interim One’ for the 2013-14 season following talks between Chelsea officials and Jorge Mendes, Mourinho’s agent. They also believe that the current Real Madrid boss has made Hulk his priority transfer target.
It’s thought that Mourinho sees Hulk as the sort of powerful forward that could have a similar impact as Didier Drogba did during his time leading the line at the West London club. The Brazilian only moved to Zenit St Petersburg for £42m at the beginning of the seasons following a long transfer saga in which everyone expected he’d end up at Stamford Bridge, but it didn’t materialise and the player moved to Russia.
Hulk is reportedly unhappy with life at the Russian club and his volatile relationship with Luciano Spalletti is well documented, so Abramovich may be able to use his close connections with Zenit to organise the transfer.
Starsport also suggest that Michael Emenalo will be sacked and Mourinho will be put in total control of the ins and outs at the football club but I doubt his influence will extend that far and although Emenalo may be sacked, he’ll probably be replaced but whoever sits in the technical director role won’t interfere with first team matters and concentrate on youth and development.
Now, the paper says that the agreement is only verbal at this stage and Chelsea want a definite answer from Mourinho by the beginning of June at the latest, so don’t rule out anyone else for the job at this stage.
