Most absurd transfer rumour this season?

Despite being some way off the next transfer window there is still plenty of transfer speculation out there and fans may be excited by the likes of Radamel Falcao and Isco but the award for most ridiculous rumour of the season has to go to AS and the Daily Express.

The Spanish newspaper has claimed that Chelsea will join Barcelona in the race to sign Manchester United keeper David De Gea, who has received mixed reviews since he joined the Premier League leaders which could be deemed harsh as he’s still only 22.

Anyway, AS believe that as Thibaut Courtois, at Atletico Madrid on-loan from Chelsea, wouldn’t be keen on returning to Stamford Bridge to be second to Petr Cech as the young Belgian has made himself a regular fixture at the La Liga club and has even made himself a cult figure in Spain.

I don’t expect Courtois to sit on the bench either and I imagine his loan spell will likely be extended but that’s where the logic behind the story ends as I cannot imagine De Gea, who starts for the league’s leading club and would start for Barcelona if the rumours linking him with them are true, would be happy to warm the bench at Chelsea.
