aanholtPatrick van Aanholt has eyes on a return to Chelsea this summer to challenge the likes of Ashley Cole and Ryan Bertrand at left-back but is unsure whether or not he’ll be loaned out again to gain more experience.

The 22-year-old has already been loaned out to five different clubs since signing a professional contract with the Blues in 2009 but he has featured regularly for Vitesse Arnhem  and has received a glowing report of Piet De Visser, who has the ear of Roman Abramovich as one of his personal advisers and recently said that van Aanholt may return to Chelsea ‘faster than people think.’

The Dutchman told TMW:

“I’m trying to grow up in this club, but both clubs will decide my future together.

“Frankly, I do not want to stay here for another season.”

He’s had a great season for Vitesse Arnhem but the club may think it’s too soon for the likes of him and Bertrand as the powers that be at Stamford Bridge have deemed it necessary to hold on to Cole for at least one more season, it has been suggested that it is part of Bertrand’s development plan to have an equal crack at the left-back spot next season and I hope to see Cole challenged. We have two very good left fullbacks on our books and if we play our cards right we could save ourselves a lot of money when it comes to replacing someone like Cole.

How do you rate van Aanholt’s chances at Chelsea?
