Spanish journalist Guillem Balague usually gets a negative reaction from Chelsea fans with his praise for the likes of Rafael Benitez and Fernando Torres but he took a break from trolling Blues fans on Twitter to comment on some transfer speculation.

The tweet was in relation to Radamel Falcao, a long term target of Chelsea’s, Balague said:

“Do you know who is also in London? Miguel Angel Gil, the big boss at Atletico de Madrid talking to clubs about Falcao for next summer.”

He didn’t really expand on the matter as the tweet came at the end of some words about Alvaro Negredo, who is expected to switch Sevilla for Tottenham this month, but it is worth mentioning as Falcao is the object of desire as far as forwards go for Chelsea fans.

Demba Ba looks like a good signing, especially for the price, and should help see us through the season but it is clear to me that Fernando Torres has not future at Stamford Bridge and if Miguel Angel Gil is in London to discuss Falcao’s future then you know he isn’t speaking to Spurs or Arsenal, so it could only be in relation to a move to Chelsea.

Also, Atletico have always maintained that Falcao’s release clause has to be met if he’s to leave Stamford Bridge but they will be concerned over who to replace him with. If these meetings are taking place, and this is pure speculation on my part, they’d have to be about more than Chelsea agreeing to meet the fee which makes me wonder if there’s any possibility that Torres could be included in the deal as was once the theory. He’s still a popular figure among the Atletico support and if the fans are to lose Falcao then replacing him with Torres could be an important political move by their board.

However, Balague has proven to be unreliable in the past and it’s best to take this one with a pinch of salt. Thought it was still worth mentioning though.

Stupid fickle fans don’t know what they are talking about. Falcao will fail if the attacking midfielders play as they do now. Watch the football closely people. Our strikers are left completely out of the attack and they barely have 5 shots at goal to show with all that possession. The strikers can only expect random and aimless crosses into the box and no through passes or quick effective counter attacks. Go watch the next game closely and realise what I mean.

Hilarious. Torres doesn’t move or score and the likes of Hazard and Mata (the envy of the Premier League) are the ones that are failing.

Ba hasn’t been around long, he’s just a decent striker and has already managed to move more in the box than Torres has in two years.

What I’m saying is that the team is passing the ball around too long at the back when the opposition scrambles back to defend Chelsea’s attack. There isn’t a quick transition from defense to attack when the team is breaking from their own half. And when they eventually progress to the final third, the opposition has lots of bodies back so clear cut chances are minimal. Strikers gets overcrowded by two or three defenders. Chelsea simply can’t penetrate the box to create clear opportunities so they end up swinging in random crosses. There’s a striker who battle with two or three defenders and little attacking midfielders. The latter are too small to win aerial balls and the striker has a 30% chance of getting on the end of it. I still feel we need a proper regista in the double pivot who can initiate a lethal counter attack or pull the strings from deep with through passes when we are pressing. If you think about it Anthony, the players we have behind the striker are actually counter attacking type of players because of their pace and fast precision one or two touch passing. Think about it.
