Former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez isn’t the most popular figure amongst the support at Stamford Bridge (I don’t need to tell you why) and he once said he’d never considering managing Chelsea out of respect Liverpool, but here he is and he says that he will win the fans over with results.

We can only speculate why Roberto Di Matteo was dismissed from the post and it’s not unusual for the board to get involved when they sense things aren’t going the clubs way, at times it’s vindicated but at other times it doesn’t work so well, like Jose Mourinho’s dismissal. I don’t believe that it’s simply all about Fernando Torres, as the press have suggested.

I’m gutted for Di Matteo and enjoyed the moments he had as a player and a manager at Chelsea, especially Munich, and those memories will remain. But now there’s a different man in charge and we have a big match against Manchester City at the weekend to think about. The 52-year-old Spaniard said he’s going to take things one game at a time, but is confident he’ll deliver results.

“You know, the fans they always want the same as the manager, to win games and to win titles.

“I think it is a top side. You can challenge for trophies when you are in a top side.”

Well, I’m not quite sure what to make of this as I cannot stand Benitez. But he’s just passing through and changing our recent poor form into good form is our main concern for now. Hopefully we’ll get past this and put ourselves in a good position for Benitez’s successor in the summer, could it be Pep or Jose?
