Chelsea target Neymar hoping to learn English

Brazilian forward Neymar recently admitted that Chelsea is a club that he would have to listen to and has sparked rumours that he’s tempted by a move to the Premier League by saying that he would like to learn how to speak English.

The 20-year-old is currently on international duty with Brazil and will likely play in tomorrow’s game against Japan and said that he would like to learn another language if he can make time between his football and family commitments.

Neymar told Sport:

“I want to learn a worldwide language like English.

“Now I would love to learn English and also Spanish, but between travelling with football, my family and my child I have not time to do so. I hope that I can organise things and do a course.”

Everyone seems to have an opinion on Neymar and there has been constant speculation surrounding his future since we were originally linked with him a couple of summers ago, with Ronaldo suggesting that he needs to move to Europe as soon as possible to develop his game (read about it here) but Pele argues the opposite.

Pele said:

“I disagree that Neymar should leave for Europe now. Last year Neymar’s agent spoke to his father, because he had an offer to go to England.

“When I found out, I went to see them and told them it wasn’t the right time to make the leap into English football, because it’s very tough and Neymar, who is an excellent player, isn’t physically up to it.”

I don’t think there’s a whole lot we can learn from Neymar’s desire to learn English or Spanish as we all know that he’s likely to go to a Barcelona, Chelsea or Real Madrid, so it’s not a great surprise.

As for Pele’s opinions on Neymar, I would have to disagree with the Brazilian legend as Neymar has probably gone as far as he can in Brazil and his club isn’t having the best of campaigns at the moment, so it could be a good time for him to move on and for Santos to cash in on their most prized asset.

Also, Pele’s only club experience outside of Brazil was for the New York Cosmos, so perhaps the opinion of Ronaldo holds more weight as he’s played for most of Europe’s elite clubs as well as perform on the big stage for his country.
