Chelsea have completed the signing of Spanish fullback Cesar Azpilicueta and he’s soon to be joined by Wigan’s Victor Moses as a fee has been agreed and he’s passed a medical, according to reports.

Azpilicueta will provide much needed competition for Branislav Ivanovic in the right-back position and the 22-year-old took part in training today and may even be in contention to play a part against Newcastle tomorrow, report Sky Sports.

The Blues confirmed the deal for the 22-year-old on the club’s official website:

“Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Cesar Azpilicueta.

“The 22-year-old right-back, who recently represented Spain at the London Olympics, arrives at Stamford Bridge following a two-year spell in France’s Ligue 1 with Marseille.”

Whilst Marseille’s own confirmation of the deal read:

“Cesar Azpilicueta transfer to Chelsea’s is official. The Spanish defender has signed with the Champions of Europe 2012.”

…I like that fact they mentioned that we’re European champions.
