Hulk hails Chelsea link as a huge achievement

Porto and Brazil star Hulk has spoken of his delight to have been linked with Champions League holders Chelsea and believes he will win major honours, should he make the switch to Stamford Bridge.

He’s been linked with a move to the Blues for sometime, especially when Andre Villas-Boas was first brought to west London and he’s been heavily tipped to join us despite the departure of the Portuguese manager, who he won the Europa League with when they worked together at Porto.

The 26-year-old has been linked with a host of top clubs around Europe and Villas-Boas’ new club Tottenham. But it would seem he’s keener on Chelsea than he is reuniting with his old boss, if his interview with FourFourTwo is anything to go by.

When asked about the rumours of him moving to Chelsea, the Brazilian forward replied:

“I am very happy. They are the European champions and the best club in Europe at the moment.

“For me, it is a huge achievement that they want me to play for them.

“I want to continue to win trophies. That is what I want to do if I join Chelsea.”

Now, although these quotes have only been published recently, I’ve heard that the interview itself was done in June which was before the talk of ‘Hulk to Chelsea’ died down. However, he’s obviously keen on joining the club and there’s a complication with third-party ownership, and this could take some time to resolve.

One of the reasons why talk went quiet is because he’s currently on international duty with Brazil at the Olympics and there won’t be much movement until he’s done there. Oscar was signed during the games, but had already had a medical with Chelsea and most of the deal was in place before the tournament began.

Hulk could be the perfect signing for Chelsea as he plays on the right wing and can play forward, which could be useful as we have no idea what Fernando Torres we’re going to see this season. The Brazilian has scored 76 goals in 166 games for Porto, who will be willing to play hard ball up until deadline day on this one.

David Luiz, Oscar, Ramires and Lucas Piazon are already at the club, will Hulk join our contingent of Brazilian players?
