Rodgers considers Sturridge swoop

Liverpool manager manager Brendan Rodgers is considering a move for Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge if Andy Carroll leaves Anfield before the close of the transfer window.

According to the Evening Standard, despite the fact he’s not so long remaining on his contract Sturridge is rated at £20m…maybe more to Liverpool, considering the amount the invested in the likes of Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson.

The also claim that Sturridge is interested in a move to Anfield, I’m not so sure about this either. We all know Sturridge desires to play as a centre forward and that wish may be realised there, but considering Liverpool are the running joke that never stops giving, maybe he’s decided that playing on the right and winning medals isn’t so bad after all.

If he counts as a recognised forward, Sturridge is the only option we have to lead the line aside from Fernando Torres and unless something drastically changes he’s not going anywhere. I’ve criticised Sturridge a lot, many have, especially for his selfishness but he’s a talented lad that has what it takes to make it if he sorts his head out. So, if Liverpool come calling for him, I’m sure we’ll take great delight in telling them to do one.

Liverpool should concentrate their efforts on Fulham’s Clint Dempsey, a man that wants to leave Craven Cottage for Liverpool and told Martin Jol that he wants to play in the Champions League…a statement that has confused many.

Daniel Sturridge played 41 games for Chelsea, scored 13 goals and made seven assists. He enjoyed a great start to the last campaign under Andre Villas-Boas (also interested in him) but fell out of favour when Roberto Di Matteo took charge in March, which led people to question whether or not the player is in the Italian’s plans. But he was used to great effect from the bench in the week and will have a future at Stamford Bridge if his attitude is right, do you see us selling him at this stage?
