Young Belgian stars Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois, Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne are already on the books at Chelsea but could we add yet another Belgian to the squad by signing Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini?

John Cross at the Mirror seems to think we’re interested in Fellaini and will be willing to splash out around £20m on the 24-year-old in order to convince the Toffees to part with him, which they will likely accept as they are in need of the cash.

He’s been a good addition to the playing squad at Goodison since arriving from Standard Liege in 2008 and it’s believed that we want to sign him to be our new midfield enforcer, but do we really need to spend that sort of cash on a player like Fellaini?

If someone like Fellaini was to arrive then I’m guessing one of our existing midfielders will be sold to make way, most likely Michael Essien, who can’t quite seem to get over the injury problems that have effectively ruined the best part of his time at the club. But with Frank Lampard, John Obi Mikel, Raul Meireles and Oriol Romeu, do we need another midfielder? Also, I don’t believe Fellaini is a much better player than Mikel, who is highly underrated in my view and showed his class in the latter round of the Champions League last season in particular.

It’s not the first time we have been linked with the player so there could be something in these rumours, but then again, it could just be lazy journalism and personally I hope it’s the latter as I’m not a fan.

What are your opinions on this rumour?

Fellaine is a gud player but he can’t come in 2 replace Mikel, neva! If we need replacement for Lampard d best option is Christian Eriksen nd show Essien d door. Dat wil suit our 4 2 3 1 formation wit Mikel in d holding midfield, Eriksen in d center, Mata behind Torres, Hazard nd Hulk in d flanks… We wil be Irrepressable.

As it stands now in chelsea there is no holding midfielder that is more consistence than mikel, let the enemies continue to talk

I’m Glad many Chelsea fans don’t rate Felli. I think that this is probably based around not actually seeing him play and just presuming that Chelsea players are automatically better that Everton players. I want him to stay at Everton so please keep up the assumption. We paid 15 million for him aged 21 so we would want considerably more than 20 million for him. He has been one of the most underrated players in the premiership and long may it continue!

Too much hair, him and Luiz would be fighting over the hairdryer.

Am highly glad that a lot of chelsea fans support mikel because he is a good defensive mid fielder in premier league so we don’t need filleani and the prize is even too much for a player of his caliber…..
