Chelsea star is here to stay

Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic has no intention of leaving Stamford Bridge amid rumours of Napoli interest and his agent has said that the Serbian is happy in west London.

Since arriving from Lokomotiv Moscow in the January of 2008 the 28-year-old has established himself as a key member of our first team and has a cult hero status amongst the supporters, which has been the case ever since he stuck two past Liverpool at Anfield in the Champions League a few seasons ago, winning some lucky punters as much cash as can be won on PartyPoker.tv. He also played a huge part in turning Chelsea’s fortunes around in the last competition with his goals against Napoli.

It’s Napoli who have become the latest club to be linked with Ivanovic and Real Madrid also have an interest in him but Vlado Boroza, his agent, does not see his client leaving Stamford Bridge. He told radio CRC:

“It’s only a rumour because my client has renewed his contract with Chelsea at a figure that would not meet the financial fair play of Napoli.

“Ivanovic has three years left in his contract and I don’t believe the basis is there to start a negotiation with Napoli.

“First of all, Chelsea does not want to part with the player and Ivanovic does not want to leave the club.”

I’m glad Branislav will be sticking around as he’s an important part of the squad who can play centre back which he believes is his natural position but he’s mostly been deployed at right-back, his best position, but always puts in his all no matter where he plays. He could lose his place in our starting XI if we do sign another fullback to replace Jose Bosingwa but with the amount of competitions we  play in, he’ll still see plenty of time on the pitch in either case.
