Porto’s Brazilian striker¬†Givanildo Vieira de Souza, otherwise knows a Hulk, has expressed his desire to leave the Portuguese club to sign for European Champions Chelsea during the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old forward has probably achieved everything he can at his current club and has been linked with a move to Chelsea ever since Andre Villas-Boas arrived at the club, and it would seem as though the powers that be at Stamford Bridge wish to continue their pursuit of the player despite the fact Villas-Boas was given his marching orders in March.

Porto have dug their heels in over the player’s valuation, in an attempt to squeeze a higher fee out of Chelsea whilst waiting for other competitors to enter the fray. But Hulk has given his clearest indication yet that he wants to join the Blues by rejecting a move to Paris Saint-Germain, who were willing to pay ¬£13 million more than we have been willing to offer.

The player told of his preference to move to England over France:

“Chelsea are the current European champions and would please any player and I’m no exception. I’d be happy if the transfer happened.

“I leave everything in the hands of Porto. I am under contract and I have been happy at Porto for four years, where I have achieved everything.”

Recent reports suggest that Tottenham may register an interest in the player especially as Villas-Boas has been widely tipped to become their next manager, but that seems like an incredibly lazy link to me and I don’t think Spurs will be able to afford or attract a player of his stature whilst playing in the Europa League with the best players at the club linked with the exit.

Hulk’s words suggest that his heart is set on a move to Chelsea, do you think the club will get this deal done or will it turn into our saga of the summer as both sides are sticking to their guns?
