Hulk in talks over Chelsea move?

Porto and Brazil forward Hulk is in discussions with Chelsea over a potential move to Stamford Bridge this summer, according to BBC Sport, but despite the fact they have gone with the headline ‘Hulk in discussions with Chelsea’ the quotes they use only suggest there’s interest.

However, it’s believed the player wants the move and the club wants the player, so this should be straightforward, no?

The player has been linked to the Blues for some time now but there may finally be some movement if the two clubs agree a fee. At the moment it would seem as though Porto are asking for more than Chelsea are willing to offer, but the player may attempt to force a move by submitting a transfer request, according to Football Talk who source the Times.

Teodoro Fonseca, Hulk’s agent, said:

“There hasn’t been an official proposal so far. There has been a lot of interest in him, but it has yet to go further than that.

“All that should change next week. Besides Chelsea, there are four more English clubs interested in him.

“Porto will not let him go easily. His release clause is 100m euros [£80m], but ultimately it is the player’s wish to take on another challenge that will make the difference.

“Those are the words of Porto’s directors. They have said as much, and will not stand in his way, so though it will not be easy for those English clubs financially, there is room for negotiation. We can sort everything out, I am sure.”

It’s thought that Chelsea want to bolster their options in attack, especially as Ivorian duo Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou are to leave the club. The 25-year-old can play as a forward but mostly operates out on the wing and has 21 goals in 38 games for Porto this season.
