Inter Milan are ready to make a move for Andre Villas-Boas if he fails to turn things around at Chelsea and is shown the exit doors at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues dropped out of the top four following their 2-0 defeat at Goodison Park against Everton last weekend and will fail to qualify for the Champions League for the first time during the Roman Abramovich era at the club should their poor run of results continue.

Abramovich spent a lot of money bringing Villas-Boas to west London and would have to fork out a hefty compensation package if he fires him, but Chelsea will lose far more in revenue if they fail to qualify for UEFA’s Premier League club cup competition.

Meanwhile, former Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri is under-fire at Inter Milan as they are lying in fifth position in Serie A and also face a struggle to qualify for the Champions League next season.

So if Villas-Boas is dismissed from his current role he may not be out of work for long and his former employer Pinto da Costa, Porto owner, believes he could be on the way to the San Siro:

“If Andre Villas-Boas leaves Chelsea he’ll be the next Inter Milan boss.”
