Swansea City have confirmed they have made a move for Chelsea midfielder Josh McEachran and want him on loan for the rest of the season as they aim to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

McEachran has been tipped for a bright future but needs minutes on the pitch and has been linked with loan moves to the likes of Aston Villa, Bolton and Swansea over the past few months, but Swansea are so far the only club to confirm an interest in the 18-year-old.

Colin Pascoe, the Swans’ first-team coach admitted:

“We’ve enquired about him.

“We want him, he’ll suit us and hopefully he’ll come to us.”

Bolton proved to be the perfect club for Daniel Sturridge last season and I’d trust Owen Coyle and his staff to develop McEachran, but I reckon Swansea could be the ideal move for the youngster as Brendan Rodgers knows him from his time at Stamford Bridge and is a fan of him.

Would a loan to Swansea provide the ideal opportunity for McEachran and could Rodgers be the perfect mentor for him?
