The Spaniard says that he is happy at his current club and remains fully committed to Marseille, even though he admits that it would be tempting should a bigger club come calling and it’d have to be something he’d consider.
Azpilicueta told L’Equipe:
“For me, these are just rumours. There has been no contact, and I am still bound to OM until 2014.
“Now, if the leaders of Chelsea want me, they should first discuss that with OM. If a proposal comes, I will think about it.
“It is more difficult to start in the national team when you do not play at a great club. You have to be at Real or Barcelona.
“But I feel good today at OM.”
The 22-year-old signed for Marseille last summer and has already proven himself to be a big hit in the south of France which has reportedly caught Chelsea’s eye and it’s of no secret that we’re not the strongest in the right-back position.
Chelsea have already worked on their defence this week by signing Gary Cahill from Bolton for around £7m, could Azpilicueta be the next man on Andre Villas-Boas’ transfer shortlist?
