Chelsea are set to battle Bayern Munich for the signature of Marseille’s Andre Ayew, according to IBTimes.

The Blues are set to lose forward Nicholas Anelka, 32, in the upcoming transfer window after Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas accepted the Frenchman’s request to leave.

Ayew, predominantly a left winger, has impressed this season by showing that he has the ability to find the back of the net on a regular basis with 12 goals in 21 games.

The 21-year-old could well be a ideal replacement for Anelka but Bayern are also thought to be keen.
