Chelsea are hoping to sort out an agreement with Belgium club Genk over 20-year-old Kevin De Bruyne. Having lost out on Fiorentina ace Steven Jovetic, they have turned their attention to the Belgian starlet.

Jovetic’s agent Fali Ramadani was adamant that his client was staying with Fiorentina having renewed a contract with the club. When asked about fresh interest from Chelsea he replied: “But if he’s just renewed? Some may still leave, but this is not the case with Stevan, whose future is at Fiorentina.” He told Calciomercato.com.

Genk manager Mario Been has conceded in the past that he wouldn’t be surprised if his young star left to join Chelsea telling reporters: “Chelsea look and want to buy all the big talents so, for me, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Kevin went to Chelsea. Everyone’s got his price.”

Offers have been thrown on the table by Chelsea but nothing has yet to materialise. The move could hit a stumbling block over the fee. Genk values their most prized asset slightly higher than what Chelsea have and both clubs are struggling to find a mutual agreement. Andre Villas Boas would be hoping to lure the 20-year-old this January than having to wait till the summer to try again.

Having already signed Romelu Lukaku and Thibaut Courtois in the summer, the Chelsea boss wants to add to the Belgian revolution with Kevin De Bruyne as he continues to look for more potential young talent.
