Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has admitted that he expects to get booed against former club Liverpool on Sunday, but the Merseyside club’s fans do not understand the reason he left Anfield.
The Spain international moved to Stamford Bridge from The Reds in a £50 million deal back in January, and is a figure of distaste for The Kop.
Despite Chelsea being at home in the clash between the sides at the weekend, Torres is expecting a frosty reception from the travelling support.
“Liverpool’s fans have stuck with the story the club gave and they don’t know the real story,” the attacker told Mirror Football.
“They have only paid attention to what the club made them see and they don’t know the true story of my transfer to Chelsea. That’s why I don’t hold any grudges – they will always be special to me.
“I am sure they will boo me more even more than England fans fans did at Wembley, but I don’t feel bitter towards them,” he stated.

The fixture is important for both sides, and Torres knows that his team cannot afford to drop points.
“Against Liverpool, we cannot allow ourselves to drop more points.
“It will be special. Liverpool are a team in transition and you can’t do that overnight. You need time. They’ve made an effort economically and, like any project, it needs time to bed in,” he concluded.
