Chelsea winger Juan Mata has hailed his move to Stamford Bridge as a big step forward in his career and has spoken out in support of his team-mate and compatriot Fernando Torres.

Juan Mata told Spanish publication Marca:

“This summer I took a major step in my career by signing for Chelsea and the truth is that everything is going well. I feel comfortable playing [for Chelsea].

“Torres has done what the coach asked him to do and played well. The goals are a matter of runs and I’m sure he will make these soon. Torres is a great player and a great person.”

The Spaniard moved from Valencia to west London during the summer transfer window for around €27 million and has already made an impact at the club by showing some impressive touches and scoring two goals.

Mata teamed up with Torres on Friday night when Spain met the Czech Republic and maintained their 100% qualifying record by defeating the Czech’s 2-0 at the Letna Stadion. Mata got himself on the scoresheet as he slotted the ball past his club team-mate Petr Cech, check out the video below…
