Bayern Munich attacker Thomas Muller has claimed that he was the subject of interest from Chelsea following the 2010 World Cup.

The German international picked up the Golden Boot award from the tournament as his country made their way to the semi-finals in South Africa.

Speaking to Bild, Muller says that Chelsea were ready to bring him to Stamford Bridge after the competition.

“I wasn’t just offered a little after the World Cup – I refused several offers, including one from Chelsea,” he said.

“It’s an honourable club, and it’s not something that’s offered every day, but I didn’t think it was reasonable to make that step at such a young age.

“A change would have been ridiculous after only one year playing as a pro, and at my age you have to play.”

Muller has two goals in the Bundesliga so far this season.
