Drogba to miss Old Trafford trip

Chelsea forward Didier Drogba is a major doubt for the Blues’ trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United on Sunday despite returning to full training today.

Andre Villas-Boas spoke about the Ivorian’s recovery:

“Didier had a medium intensity session yesterday [Thursday] and a high intensity session today [Friday] but it is a week too soon to go with him for Manchester United.”

But Villas-Boas leaves AVB with Fernando Torres, Nicolas Anelka, Daniel Sturridge or Romelu Lukaku to select for a central role in attack and Torres’ performance against Bayer Leverkusen was good enough to earn the spot, in my opinion.

Chelsea have a concern in the goalkeeping position as Henrique Hilario and Ross Turnbull are both struggling with injuries and facing a race for fitness…to warm the bench:

“Hilario took a big knock to his hip. He went for a scan and we are trying to discover the extent of injury. Turnbull is 80 per cent fit after recovering from injury in a reserve game. One of them will be on the bench.”
