Spanish national coach Vicente Del Bosque has taken a swipe at Fernando Torres’ form for Chelsea by claiming he couldn’t select him because he isn’t playing good enough.

The £50m Chelsea man made a substitute appearance against Chile in a friendly last week but was dropped from the squad that played Liechtenstein in a European Championship qualifier on Tuesday.

Del Bosque said:

“He is an important player but the people selected for the national team are those who do well for their clubs, not the other way round.”

Torres has started in each of Chelsea’s opening three Premier League matches but has yet to add to his solitary strike for the Blues.

It is sad when players not in form are always selected to player for a team like Chelsea. It is very obvious that Frank Lampard and Torres are not in their best of forms, even Mikel Obi. AVB should select players based on their forms just as Capello has shown. In our MF we need players like Ramires, Meireles, Josh, Mata, Malouda and Sturridge. Then Lukaku should lead our attack atleast for now lets see what happens.

I am disappoint in AVB for ever saying he would like to loan out Josh and Lukaku, he definately looks confused as Ancelotti.

Paulie i agree with u, i think Guus Hidink should have been brought in d first place, dis avb guy is confused and is selecting name instead of ability and form same as ancelloti did. I think our starting line up should be cech, ivanovic, luiz, terry, mikel, ramires meireles mata, sturidge, lukaku and torres. The talk of shipping lukaku out on loan is a foolish talk by avb

  5. skizzo says:

who thus AVB think he is, whilst players like Lamps n Drobga n co are still playing. I was shock to here that Josh n Oriol could be send on loan, he think porto is chelsea he is totally confuse

Torres, lamps and malouda don’t deserve to be in our starting line up based on current form. Avb shld forget abt sentiments and bench them. They can’t keep holding our beloved club to ransom

  7. Josh says:

I think Torres needs a psycologist to talk to him. For Lamp and Malouda needs more training to pick up. Lastly Lukaku and Josh are our great stars dont loan them plsss AVB

Reminds me of the travelling support at the Bridge for Torres’ first game against Liverpool, and he got pulled after about 60 minutes, how much crap they were giving him.

Talk about a career-killing move, Torres makes Shevchenko look like Pele! I don’t know if he has a future in English football, he might just have to go back to Spain and get his head cleared for a fresh start. When you can’t even get a game against LIECHTENSTEIN…Biggest EPL flop ever?
