Chelsea will kick off their third game of the Premier League campaign against Norwich at Stamford Bridge today.

Andre Villas-Boas’ side are the heavy favourites to win the game, especially as Paul Lambert’s side are reeling after their shock 4-0 defeat at the hands of MK Dons in their Carling Cup clash at Carrow Road in midweek.

The Blues are without David Luiz (thigh), Michael Essien (knee), Petr Cech (knee) and Daniel Sturridge (suspended). New signing Juan Mata will not start the game but will be on the bench and could make an appearance at some point during the match.

Who would you name in your Chelsea XI today?

H. Hilario

J. Bosingwa – Alex – J. Terry (c) – A. Cole

Ramires – J. Mikel – F. Lampard

N. Anelka – F. Torres – F. Malouda

I don’t think the back four will change much despite Alex’s mistake last week, but Branislav Ivanovic may play some part today.

Personally, I’m not a fan of Ramires, Mikel and Lampard as a midfield combination as there’s no natural playmaker in there that can successfully link in with the attack. Ramires will have to do better than last week, Mikel has played well despite the drama surrounding his personal life of late and Lampard has been particular poor in the opening games, in my opinion. We really ought to be beating Norwich at home and I would like to see Josh McEachran given at least a half hour today, it’d be nice to have a forward thinking midfielder that has the technical ability to find those in front of him, so why not give him an opportunity.

After helping Chelsea to come back from a goal down against West Brom in the last game, I expect Anelka and Malouda to be given the nod to support Torres, but everyone wants to see Mata at some point during the game and hopefully he’ll be given a decent amount of minutes today. are seeking new writers to join the team!
