Should Chelsea consider going back in for this forward?

Now that it seems Neymar will prefer a move to Real Madrid and Radamel Falcao has signed a new deal at Porto, will Chelsea be tempted to go back in for Sergio Aguero, who was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in 2009?

It has been suggested that Andre Villas-Boas may want to bring in a new striker as the futures of Didier Drogba, 33, and Nicolas Anelka, 32, futures remaining uncertain, with neither representing a long-term option.

Is Aguero the best forward available? It would seem that he wants out of Atletico Madrid and has dropped the biggest hint yet that he wants to leave the club this summer.

The 23-year-old told Argentinean radio station Radio De La Red:

“I have made clear in my statement that I do not see myself at Atletico.

“I will seek the best for me, I know that my representatives are working and for now I don’t want to think about it. I will do something after the Copa America, when I am able to think calmly.

“If I said I saw myself at Atletico, I’d be lying. I’d prefer to play in Spain or England; those are the two best countries.”

“Atletico has been my place of work in Spain. I have given everything for the shirt and I have had a lot of fun but as far as my future is concerned, don’t bet on anything.”

Both Real Madrid and Manchester City are also keen on the forward, who has a £38m release clause in his contract, but the fee isn’t the issue in terms of us signing him, it’s his wage hefty wage demands and he may have to revise those.

Aguero enjoyed one of his best seasons in 2010-11 and scored 27 goals, with six assists to his name. He is currently on international duty with Argentina in the Copa America, with three goals in the tournament so far and he’ll be back in action against Uruguay in the quarter-finals tomorrow at 23:15 (BST).

Should Chelsea compete alongside the likes of Manchester City and Real for Aguero’s signature?
