There has been a lot of confusion and speculation surrounding the future of Palermo’s Javier Pastore, with rumours that an agreement has already been reached for the player to go to Paris Saint-Germain and stories that his agent is to discuss terms with Chelsea officials today.

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini denied that Pastore to PSG is more-or-less a done deal, but confirmed that the player’s agent Marcelo Simonian will meet with Chelsea in the UK today.

Zamarini told Stadio News yesterday:

“Tomorrow [Friday] his agent Marcelo Simonian will be in London to meet Chelsea.”

He also played down reports that Pastore is PSG bound:

“It’s not true and this news is an invention.

“The only thing that is certain is that he is going abroad.

“We are in the decisive days now and I think Pastore is just one of a few world-class players, but I won’t say where he is going, even under torture.

“The offers are between €40million [£34.9m] and €50million [£43.6m].”

Chelsea are looking to bolster their midfield depth and are already close to signing promising youngster Oriol Romeu, but are yet to make a significant signing in that area and have so far failed to land Tottenham’s Luka Modric, could Javier Pastore, 22, be the Stamford Bridge club’s first big signing of the summer transfer window?
