JT: Modric would make a good addition to Blues squad

John Terry has said that Chelsea target Luka Modric would be a good addition to the Blues’ squad, although he says it is a little disrespectful towards Tottenham to talk about one of their players, who is currently trying to engineer his move away from White Hart Lane.

Modric stated earlier in the summer that he desires a move to Stamford Bridge, but the north London club have stood firm over the player, who signed a long term deal at the club only last May, and they say that he’s not for sale at any price and Daniel Levy has also denied that Modric had a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ that Spurs would listen to offers for the Croatian if one of the big clubs came in for him.

The Chelsea captain shared his views on the story and told Sky Sports News:

“He’s a world class player who is very difficult to play against.

“He’s very agile, very quick and a great finisher like we’ve seen over many years.

“I know there are problems. It’s probably a little bit disrespectful towards Spurs. He has his own problems at the moment.

“We’ve got a good squad of players. If he comes he could certainly add to that.”

Chelsea have previously bid £22m and £27m for the Spurs midfielder, both of which were turned down. Andre Villas-Boas has publicly said that the club have other targets in mind if the deal doesn’t materialise, with Palermo’s Javier Pastore being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, but Chelsea are expected to return with an improved bid for Modric worth £30m+.

Will the next bid be enough to land Modric? Only time will tell, but I wouldn’t like to see us pay over £35m for the player and if Spurs are expecting more than that then they can forget it.
