John Terry has said that Chelsea target Luka Modric would be a good addition to the Blues’ squad, although he says it is a little disrespectful towards Tottenham to talk about one of their players, who is currently trying to engineer his move away from White Hart Lane.

Modric stated earlier in the summer that he desires a move to Stamford Bridge, but the north London club have stood firm over the player, who signed a long term deal at the club only last May, and they say that he’s not for sale at any price and Daniel Levy has also denied that Modric had a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ that Spurs would listen to offers for the Croatian if one of the big clubs came in for him.

The Chelsea captain shared his views on the story and told Sky Sports News:

“He’s a world class player who is very difficult to play against.

“He’s very agile, very quick and a great finisher like we’ve seen over many years.

“I know there are problems. It’s probably a little bit disrespectful towards Spurs. He has his own problems at the moment.

“We’ve got a good squad of players. If he comes he could certainly add to that.”

Chelsea have previously bid £22m and £27m for the Spurs midfielder, both of which were turned down. Andre Villas-Boas has publicly said that the club have other targets in mind if the deal doesn’t materialise, with Palermo’s Javier Pastore being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, but Chelsea are expected to return with an improved bid for Modric worth £30m+.

Will the next bid be enough to land Modric? Only time will tell, but I wouldn’t like to see us pay over £35m for the player and if Spurs are expecting more than that then they can forget it.

modric is a disrespectful little git, but balkans are a strange bunch, he keeps crying about a bigger club and a good offer,27 million isnt a good offer, and the chavs will struggle to finish higher than spurs next season anyway, feather boa is a massive gamble, and it will take more than some dodgy russian cash befoe they are bigger than spurs.

  2. Ric Good says:

You wont pay more than £35million?
Ok ill gladly forget it then 🙂 good luck signing Scott Parker instead,

    • Anthony Williams says:

He isn’t worth more than £35m, that’s about how much Sneijder is rated and he’s not only a better player than Modric (although different types of midfielder), he also is commercially viable.

        Then go buy schneider then.

        • Anthony Williams says:

I’m impressed that you still managed to spell that wrong despite the correct spelling being in front of your eyes. Good effort.

  3. burstin says:

For JT to say it’s disrespectful my gosh… just proves how out of order Modders has been… JT is the most disrespectful head up his own arse egoistical player in the league!!

  4. Ric Good says:

wow random a Rich G and a Ric Good posting at practically same time and both support a BIG Club unlike the Chavs here

When’s the last time Terry ever said anything that’s not pure waffle? He tries to sound meaningful and puts on a serious face when attempting a speech, but it only ever amounts to a lot of tripe that any idiot could come out with, like “He’ll be good for the club” or “we’ll really work hard” or “He’s a great player” or anything that anyone, anywhere could come up with. But now and then, he’ll say something like “Modric is disrespectful” which anyone with half a brain knows the press will run with and does the club or anyone else no good at all. Terry shoul stick to arranging his darts competitions, paintball and go-cart events and sing-songs.

    • Anthony Williams says:

lol it’s funny because it’s true.

    • col says:

So what you are saying then is if Terry was,nt a footballer he would just be a common all garden retard then.

  6. Morgan. says:

He didnt say he was disrespectful. He said it was. Talking about the interviewer questioning him on the situation. Oh and Im a Spurs fan, so its not a case of sticking up for a chelsea player. Its a question of getting it right.

    • Anthony Williams says:

You’re right, to be fair. I’ve seen the interview a few times again and think Sky were jumping the gun a bit with their original headline, which ironically led me to do the same thing lol

  7. Don says:

Its time to get cahill to replace Cavalho cos Luiz cant just do that.
It has been said that AVB will use Luiz as a defensive midfielder next season.
So we will only have Modric, Cahill and Lukaku by August.
    Bet that..

  8. Raul says:

This headline is very misleading. Terry meant it was disrespectful to Spurs to talk about the Modric situation, not that Luka himself was disrespectful to Spurs…!!!

    • Anthony Williams says:

Indeed. I’ve already discussed this with someone above, it was implied by a story Sky published, which seems to have been replaced with ‘Terry: Modric is world-class”.

  9. peterson says:

disrespecful? That’s uncalled for,i would like to remind j.t that he deosn’t own chelsea fc,& considering his he will be surplus for requirement soon enougth,i expect j.t to use his position to encourage the team to employ the services of such talents.
lastly the guy says he had such a ” gentleman’s agreement” its obvious they will deny it b’cos its a gentleman’s. ” & its his word
    against thiers.
