Chelsea have first refusal on 16-year-old Fluminense prospect Ronan, as part of the deal which saw Deco move to the Brazilian club last summer.

Ronan, a defender, explains how Chelsea were given the option to purchase the rights of three Fluminense youngsters:

“For Deco coming to Fluminense, they needed three players who were based in the juniors.

“They sent a scout to watch the championships and to choose three players – myself and two others (Wallace and Pernao).

“With Deco arriving at the club, they sold 50% of my rights to the English club.”

Chelsea have already secured the services of Lucas Piazon, who will arrive in January and the likes of Ronan, Wallace and Pernao could join the Brazilian contingent at Stamford Bridge, which includes Alex, David Luiz and Ramires.
