Chelsea recently had a £22m bid for Tottenham’s Luka Modric turned down, but despite Harry Redknapp saying the midfielder is not for sale, they’re expected to come back with an improved bid and former Chelsea assistant manager Ray Wilkins believes that the Croatian would fit in well at Stamford Bridge.

“Modric is a player of immense quality that everyone with finance would want to buy. His craft and work ethic are brilliant.

“He would fit in at Chelsea with no problem at all because he is a class player and he would be joining fellow class footballers.

“The consistency he has shown as a foreign player coming to the Premier League has been exceptional. He and (Manchester United’s former goalkeeper Edwin) Van der Sar were the best two players in the league last year.”

Do you agree with Butch and do you think Chelsea will succeed in their bid to sign Modric?

If Levy says he will not sell Modric it will not happen. He has recently signed a new 5 year contract. Wake up spoiled brat. You are rotten.

      • Anthony Williams says:

You’d be pretty naive if you thought Levy’s statement actually means he isn’t going.

He’s a business man, the player says he has an agreement with the club to listen to offers and he’ll hand in a transfer request if he has to.

Levy’s basically seperating the board from blame and making Modric the villain, he’s not stupid.

Chelsea got so much money trying to steal our star players trying to push for trophies when the real problem aint the players its the club.. best trophy chelsea got a chance to win… League One Championship ..

Once a player declares his desire to play elsewhere you have to let him go. It makes no sense to keep a player against his will. Such a player only becomes a liability to his captives. Everyone knows this. The best thing for Tottenham is to take the money and use it well. When a player goes public like Modric has, its game over.

Settle down now boys and stop acting like a bunch of children with anger management issues. You guys whine about how spoil Chelsea is and how they whine a lot to the referees; when your the ones that are making all this racket. Lets all be grown-ups and try to keep some of our idiotic opinions and comments to ourselves. This is for people with IQ’s above average in which you aren’t showing at the moment. If this was the other way around with you guys making a bid for one of our star player, you wouldn’t see any Chelsea fan yapping away like what you guys are doing rite now. So just relax and let football be. Because at the end of the day its where the player is happy playing.
So lets just say Modric has no other option than staying and he plays under par next season. You guys are gonna be saying that his head wasn’t in the game and he wanted to go elsewhere. Typical excuse that i’ve heard so many times before. If i was the owner i wouldn’t even be interested in all this hype over Modric. My no.1 target would be getting Sneijder and Van der Wiel. The two Dutch players that have proven themselves at club level and at the World Cup which is the biggest stage to show off your talent. Whoever comes after like Sanchez or Neymar is a plus which is highly unlikely. So my other options would be getting both Hazard and Turan(who is the heart of Turkey and Galatasaray). If u dont know who he is Google his name. A next striker would be evident by the name of Lukaku and thats a £100m well spent.
