The Neymar saga has been drawn out for some time now and reports in today’s Daily Express claim that Chelsea have balked at Santos’ £45m valuation of long-term target Neymar and insist that they won’t be held to ransom over the player.

Could Chelsea’s pursuit of the Brazilian youngster be coming to an end?

Neymar, 19, has been heavily linked to both Chelsea and Real Madrid so far this summer, which is of no surprise as he’s been tipped for great things and recently helped his side to a Copa Libertadores win over Penarol, which was Santos’ first since Pele’s era.

Pini Zahavi was in Brazil in an attempt to negotiate a deal for Neymar, but a source claimed that they were unwilling to meet Santos’ valuation:

“Chelsea want Neymar very much, but they will not pay the £45m Santos want.”

The Stamford Bridge club have been chasing the player since last summer and have been constantly linked with him, but there never seems to be a consistent straight answer from the player or his agent about what they want, which has been a constant source of frustration for Blues fans as many want to see an end to it, one way or another.

Should Roman Abramovich break the bank for the highly sought after Brazilian youngster, or should Chelsea forget about Neymar and turn their attentions elsewhere?

Get this guy pls @ the price tag. He gonna be long term asset for d club. Alongside him to pose a great challenge on him, also get falcao,Hulk, fabregas, mutinho & Pastore then get rid of drogba, kalou,Lamprd,Anelka & Essien.

To win Champions League, Chelsea needs a Messi: Go get Neymar! I would rather spend 45m on Neymar than 50m on Torres.

    CHELSEA JUST NEED 4 PLAYERS:
NEYMAR (creative, tricky, striker/midfielder) for Anelka or Malouda
MODRIC (creative playmaker) for Essien or Benayoun
VAN DE WIEL (tricky, fast, right wingback) for Bosingwa or Ferreira
SUBOTIC (6ft3 goal scoring central defender) phased in slowly for Terry

Chelsea should by Neymar now at all costs after all opportunistic Madrid we come with a doubled price after 2-3yaers 4m now.

neymar could hav been a lng tym chelsea player, bt d prblem is his advisers lyk pele, robinho nd othrs who r tryin 2 convinc him nt 2 play in d EPL. So in order 4 him 2 continue a possibl move 2 d EPL means slapin a worthless hyh price tag on him. Bt i dnt stil tink dat shld b a problm 4 owner of a (‘deep endless wallet’ abramovich) 2 pick up d wonderkid 1st.
